Bespoke Framing

Here at Arden Hall Crafts we operate a fully equipped workshop where we produce high quality, hand-crafted wooden frames to display and preserve your photographs, memorabilia or favourite works of art.

We do not carry a stock of art prints ourselves, but we can source literally thousands of different pictures from hundreds of exciting artists. (Look at our links page for a selection of print and poster suppliers.) Our 3D box frames are perfect for displaying those precious items that have been gathering dust in a draw for years.

Needless to say, we can also reframe existing items.

Arden Hall Crafts is run entirely by a husband and wife partnership, both of whom share in all aspects of the business. Because we do not have a shop front, we have low overheads and we are able to pass the savings onto you without compromising on quality.

We visited several local framing shops in South Manchester and requested a quote for framing an A4 print, with a 3cm mount board and antique pine effect frame moulding. Quotes ranged from £40 to £50 for a bespoke service. Our price would be nearer to £27.00, depending on the moulding.

Such is our confidence in our ability to be cheaper than any other framing business that we invite you to contact out nearest rivals for a quote:

  • Abbey Fine Art Gallery and Picture Framers 0161 368 8899

  • Best 4 Frames 0161 449 0022

  • The Mirror and Picture Factory  0161 477 5884

  • The Framing Service  0161 881 4422

To be fair, many of these shops do offer cheaper deals. Taking a finished frame home and putting the print inside it yourself could shave a third off the price. Buying an off the shelf frame can take the cost down even further. However, most people lack the materials and expertise to properly mount a print, and off the shelf frames (frequently passed off as made 'in house' by framing shops, but usually bought in bulk from wholesalers) are often of an extremely low quality. Please see our section on conservation for a full explanation of why bespoke is always better for items of personal or monetary value.

The Fine Art Trade Guild is generally regarded as the organisation that sets framing industry standards. They have established 5 levels of framing, from basic to museum conservation quality. When framing any print or photograph, our basic level of framing is guaranteed to exceed the F.A.T.G.s first two levels and to be equal to their 'Commended Level' three. Any items of monetary or sentimental value will be framed to the F.A.T.G.s 'Conservation Level' four.

We make every frame ourselves, so each and every one of them carries our reputation with it. Quite simply, less than perfect is never good enough and only the highest quality frames leave our workshop. We inspect and hand-finish every frame before it leaves us and anything less than perfect is, quite simply, rejected.

Please contact us for details and a highly competitive quote. We will not be beaten on price.
